How to Research Brand Employees to Find the Perfect Person to Pitch
You can learn a lot from what brands' employees post online.
Here's an excerpt from a real job description of an "Influencer Marketing Manager" at a major consumer brand:
Run Content Creator program
Manage micro-influencer campaigns
Oversee video shoots with both influencers and content creators
Work with various influencer agencies to activate new relationships
What did we just learn from that tiny bit of information?
This person is likely a decision-maker (they run the program)
They have a separate program to work with smaller partners
They value video as a content format
They value partnership marketing so much that they're enlisting the help of outside agencies to scale up their efforts
Congrats, you're a grade-A sleuth!

But it's not just job descriptions that are a gold mine.
Maybe this person recently flexed on social media, "So proud that our brand collaborated with XYZ to launch our new ABC campaign!"
They always include a smiley face…I don't know why.
From this, we can learn:
What types of people they're already partnering with
The audience sizes of their current (or past) partners
The kinds of initiatives they're currently paying people to promote
So, just remember, all it takes is 15-20 minutes of research to figure out:
What to say to the brand
Who to send it to
