6 Questions to Ask Before Hitting Publish on Any Sponsored Content
Every time you're about to publish an asset or execute a sponsorship, ask yourself the following:
Am I using the final approved assets/copy?
Do NOT make any changes whatsoever that the brand hasn't approved.
Am I including the correct brand handles, hashtags, and proper links, if applicable?
Tagging the wrong handle is common since brands often have different spellings across different platforms.
Did I verify the discount code or offer is valid, if applicable?
Is the code case-sensitive?
Is the product or service you're promoting out of stock or unavailable?
If so, do NOT publish the asset until you confirm the best action with the brand.
Am I selecting the proper publication settings (audience visibility, paid partnership disclosure tools, etc.)?
Not disclosing the partnership properly can result in a breach of contract and/or audience blowback.
Am I granting the brand the proper usage rights, if applicable?
Every platform has a different process to allow brands to run ads with your assets.
If everything checks out, you should be good to hit publish!
Now it's time to kick your feet up, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and go to the beach for the entire day, right?
No, please don't do that.
